Poker Stars Review
Probably my favourite poker room as it's the one I always seem to get drawn back too is Poker Stars. Mainly due to the notoriety of having Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker and Joseph Hachem winning the World Series of Poker and all under the Poker Stars banner. They even claim to have the best quality poker players around and believe me when I say there are plenty of sharks. I play there regularily and know all about them.
Because of this fact Poker Stars tends to attract people who know how to play poker. You will get less fish and a better all round game with less of the bullcrap you get from a lot of sites. Like newbies throwing all their money in on crap hands and sucking out on you. If you play good you get respect and are allowed to lean on other players as and when you need to.
Poker Stars often claims to have the best software of any poker company and with so many companies using similar software, I'm more than inclined to agree with its uniqueness. They offer individual player notes, hand historys and your own player statistics allowing you to rack what you did where. Like what percentage you called, raised and folded and when you made that play. Making it a very useful tool to see how you actually play to how you think you play.
One main difference at Poker Stars is they only have 9 seater tables maximum. Some people find this strange but to me that's my perfect range up to 9 players. Also as a valued customer you can set your own tournaments and invite whoever you like friends, family, or random strangers. Set up your own league or just have some fun with anyone willing to play its entirely upto you.
Pay outs are paid very promptly usually within 24 hours and like most large online poker sites Poker Stars accept all the major forms of payments and withdraws. Unfortunately Poker Stars does not give any player bonus which does help to keep the fish away and the obvious bonus hunters. But does supply us with a unique (FPP) Frequent player points program. These are automatically accumiuated and are redeemable for cash tournament entries or are able to be used within the FPP store in exchange for cool Poker Stars goods such as hats, caps, jackets and poker chip sets.
All in all Poker Stars is a damn fine example of an online poker site offering good honest poker in a cool, relaxed atmosphere, which is pretty much all I want from my poker site. Honesty, integrity, reliability and a good array of games. Oh and one more thing I almost forgot to mention, their tournaments are superb, easily accessible and you can play freerolls running every few hours with the chance of winning real cash, now that can't be bad can it.
