In-Play betting Laying a Bet.
Let me try and explain. When you place bets with a traditional bookmakers such as ladbrokes. That bookmaker will set odds against the likely outcome of the event. You will then place your bet with that bookmaker and if you win they will pay out at the set odds.
Now when you place a bet with Betfair. Betfair themselves do not take the bet. Instead betfair allows you to play the role of punter or the bookmaker. Meaning using the "Betfair Exchange", you can bet something to win as you do at a traditional bookmakers. Or you can be the bookmaker and set the odds for someone else to take with you (eg.
