Casino Gambling Strategies
There are various casino gambling strategies that online casino gambling enthusiasts have used over the years to try and make money on a consistent basis. Some of the strategies are genuinely useful, others look good but aren’t quite as hot as they appear, and still others aren’t even worthy to be called strategies in the first place. Let’s take a brief look at each category in turn…
Genuine Strategies
Genuinely useful casino gambling strategies are those that acknowledge the mathematical edge than casinos have over the player and seek to minimise or overcome that edge by playing in a strict and precise manner. Such strategies are most often employed in games where an element of skill is concerned, and a classic example of a genuinely useful casino gambling strategy is adhering to basic strategy in the game of blackjack.
Blackjack basic strategy tells you exactly the best thing to do in any situation based on the mathematics of the game, and if you adhere to basic strategy you can often reduce the house edge to zero, depending on the type of blackjack game you are playing.
Pseudo Strategies
Casino gambling strategies that look wonderful but really aren’t so hot are currently being shared on the internet as if they were a recent development, but they are as old as casinos themselves. The most famous strategy in this category is the Martingale system of staking. This requires you to bet on any even money shot (such as a hand of blackjack or red or black when roulette betting) and to double up your stake after every loser, reverting to your original stake when you hit a winner.
This strategy sounds good because it guarantees to make you a 1 point profit after every winner, and in the short term (with the right run of results) it can prove to be profitable. However, if you hit a series of losing bets then your stakes can get out of control very quickly. For example, if you started with a £1 bet and doubled up after each losing bet, a series of seven consecutive losers would lose you 127 points and demand a stake of 128 points on the next bet!
Non-Strategies
Our final category covers various hair-brained approaches to casino gambling that would ideally exist only in a stand up comedy routine. These would include using astrological forecasts to select ‘lucky numbers’, betting on a roulette outcome just because you had a dream about doing that and winning, and so on. You might well win every now and again by following a non-strategy, but that’s only because most casino games are determined by chance and you just happened to be in the right place at the right time with the right bet on the table.
Our advice is to approach online casino games as the form of entertainment that they are. If you are playing a casino game that involves skill and a genuine strategy exists for that game then by all means use it. You can also feel free to dabble with pseudo strategies if you are happy with the risks involved. But whatever you do, don’t fall for online marketing hype that promises you a ‘never-fail’ secret to winning, because it doesn’t exist.
